For nine years, Ellen Smith has been playing a role in the office at Romona School and you will see her friendly face there now as its secretary. She has also served in crossing guard and traffic control positions. Regardless of what she does, Mrs. Smith makes special connections with the students. When asked about a favorite District 39 memory she replied, “That is so difficult for me because I have so many!” She enjoyed recounting when the Romona staff built a Cinderella coach for a little girl who was in a wheelchair for the Halloween parade. Some of the special needs students she has connected with over the years have inspired her with their love for life; she says, “Those memories are still deep in my heart.” Mrs. Smith, you are in our hearts too!
