I’m interested in joining your Board of Trustees. How do I pursue this?
The first step is to contact us at d39found@d39foundation.org. We will speak with you about your interest in the Foundation and work with you to determine if there is an opening on our Board of Trustees that would utilize your talents and experience. The slate of proposed new trustees is voted upon by the board at the May meeting.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, your donation is fully tax-deductible and you will receive a letter or email from the Foundation, stating so, for your records.
What is the difference between what the schools’ PTO/As provide to the schools and the District 39 Educational Foundation?
The District 39 Educational Foundation has been incorporated as a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization since 1993. Our Foundation Board of Trustees is an independent volunteer group which receives no financial compensation. We are solely responsible for raising and granting funds for projects that expand, enrich, and compliment educational opportunities for the students, staff, and community in District 39. We provide programs and materials that our community is not able to fund with tax dollars alone.
The Elementary/Middle School PTA/Os are organizations of caregivers that make great things happen at their school! They support the students and staff through various activities and venues in the hope of providing the best educational environment and opportunity for all of our children. The PTA/Os plan and fund enrichment programming, including funding for educational field trips, during the school year. They also plan after-school clubs in conjunction with the Wilmette Park District throughout the year and host and coordinate teacher appreciation events throughout the year.
What is Math in the Real World?
Math in the Real World is a unique Foundation series designed to bring home the concept that math matters in everyday life. The Foundation hosts speakers annually at either Highcrest or Wilmette Junior High School where students hear first-hand from professionals– all emphasizing how math really does factor into how they get their work done successfully. Check out our past speakers here.
